EVANS, N.Y. (AP) - State police say a 36-year-old Vermont man has been charged with firing a handgun during a road rage incident on the Thruway in western New York.
Troopers say a 60-year-old man from Brantford, Ontario told 911 dispatchers that a passenger in a pickup truck fired shots out the window after their vehicles nearly collided Sunday in the town of Evans.
Police pulled the pickup over and took three people into custody. A passenger, James Henderson II of Hancock, Vt., was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment and menacing.
The Canadian told troopers he tossed a can of soda at the pickup when it cut him off, then heard two gunshots. Police found a pistol loaded with 14 bullets inside the truck.
