Search for New Buffalo State President Narrowed to Five
Buffalo, NY (WBEN) - In a statement today, Chair of the Presidential Search Advisory Committee for SUNY Buffalo State Howard Zemsky announced that the search for the college's next President has been narrowed down to five candidates.
In the statement Zemsky says the five finalists will visit the campus in the coming days and weeks. The finalists will give a presentation to the campus community that all faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend.
The name of each finalist will be released one day before his or her scheduled interview date to help ensure confidentiality as long as possible.
The first finalist to visit will be University at Albany Provost Susan Phillips. Phillips will be on campus Monday, April 21, and will give a presentation during an open forum on the 21st from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. in the Burchfield Penney Art Center’s Peter and Elizabeth C. Tower Auditorium.
"We encourage all members of the Buffalo State community to participate in as much of the process as possible to help us select the candidate best suited to lead our college," Zemsky said in the statement.
Buffalo State has been searching for a new President since August of last year when Aaron Podolefsky resigned due to his battle with cancer. Podolefsky died just days after his resignation. Howard Cohen has been serving as the college's interim President ever since.
