Fatal Boating Accident in Chautauqua County

Jamestown, N.Y. (WBEN) - A Pennsylvania man died from lack of oxygen to his brain following a boating accident late Friday on Chautauqua Lake.
New York State Police say Robert W. Knell, 66, of Duke City, Pennsylvania, was pronounced dead at 7:00 am Saturday at WCA Hospital in Jamestown, less than 24 hours after the boat he was in capsized. Knell and Roy Barclay, 65, from Derrick City, Pennsylvania, were fishing under the I/86 bridge when the boat took on water due to weather/winds. Barclay was treated and released.

A father and son who were heading out to fish saw the boat in trouble and rescued the two men, taking them ashore to meet the Bemus Point Volunteer Fire Department.
