The current average cost for a gallon of unleaded gas has eased two cents to $3.85, according to the AAA.
 
Grand Island's Beer Hats has agreed to sell its operation to Allied Industries, a division of The Resource Center in Chautauqua County.  The business started as a way to re-use old beer cases as hats.  The new owners plan to build a national sales team to expand the business, which holds the patent on each hat style and is licensed with breweries from Coors to Molson.  The hats will now be produced in Dunkirk, with no job cuts expected.

Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls USA is in the process of expanding by 175,000-square-feet.  Helly Hansen and Steve Madden head the list of 27 stores that will help anchor the expanded wing of the mall.  That wing is expected to be completed this fall.  More than 500 new jobs will be created when the stores open.

Second quarter net income for National Fuel Gas Company increased by 11% compared to a year ago, jumping to $95.2 million.
