Arrest Made In Moll's Pub Assault

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) Buffalo Police have made an arrest in connection with a beating at a Buffalo bar that left a New York Air National Guardsman hospitalized last week. The incident also involves a pair of off-duty Buffalo Police officers. Police say that 35-year-old, Jeffrey Basil of Amherst surrendered to police early Saturday evening. Basil has been charged with first-degree assault in connection with the incident where 28-year-old, William Sager Jr. apparently was pushed down a flight of stairs inside Molly's Pub on Main Street in the University District. Responders found Sager outside of the bar when they arrived on scene. Sager is reportedly in critical condition at ECMC. Basil pleaded not guilty to those charges Sunday morning.

According to published reports, Basil is said to be the manager of the bar and does have a criminal record. Chief of Detectives, Dennis Richards says that the department is ,"...continuing to investigate every aspect of this serious assault, including any actions taken by off-duty officers at the scene." Two officers have been placed on administrative leave during the investigation.
