St. Paddy's Day Parade is Gay Okay
Organizers of New York's Saint Patrick's Day Parade have decided to allow an openly gay group to march under its own banner in the 2015 event.
That's a major reversal, and seen as many as a victory for the LGBT community.
At first, organizers said that only one group could march - others would have to apply for a permit to join in 2016. But last night, they decided to allow other groups to apply for the 2015 parade, but warned that space was tight.
The change in position comes after some major criticism last year.
New York's new mayor refused to participate in this year's parade if gay groups were banned.
Guiness dropped its sponsorship.
And Cardinal Dolan, the parade's grand marshall, was just tired of getting glitter-bombed.
