Parents Rally for New Corrective Plan for Students
Buffalo, NY (WBEN) Saying the Buffalo Public School's corrective action plan approved by the state has collapsed, parents rallied Monday for a new solution.
"We have a lot of parents who are in flux," says Sam Radford of the District Parent Coordinating Council.. "We're just not clear about what will happen with out children and the only answer we have from the district is moving them from one school to another." He sasy sending children from one failing school to another is not an acceptable solution.
He's calling for immediate intervention by the state to make sure children are not shuttled to another failing school against their will. "We're going to ask for every option through federal law. We want parents to have the option of going to a suburban school, a charter school, or a private school, with the district paying for that," says Radford. He does not the only problem is that's blocked by the state's Blaine Amendment. Radford says he will call for an exception to that because of the problems in Buffalo Public Schools.
