Buffalo, NY (WBEN) Members of the Buffalo School Board will hold a special meeting Wednesday afternoon, and the purpose will be to discuss the process of picking an interim superintendent.
President Barbara Seals Nevergold says there are several questions board members must ask. "Are we going to post the fact there's an interim position? Are we going to interview people? How long will the interim post be?" says Nevergold, which the board has yet to discuss. She also says the board must consider whether to have an interim superintendent for a year or decide sooner to start a search for a permanent superintendent.
Nevergold says the process needs to be in place as Pamela Brown steps down as superintendent, but concedes it could be tweaked when the new board takes over next month.
As for Brown's departure itself, "that whole discussion is under our special counsel, so I am not in any position to provide any details," says Nevergold, who adds the board is obligated to have a superintendent in place.
