Fourteen Gang Members Arrested in Early Morning Raid

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) - Local law enforcement and the FBI were at work early this morning, rounding up members of the Schuele Boys Gang.

In all, 17 men are charged with various gang-related crimes. Thirteen were arrested this morning, one later in the day, while three other men are still being sought after. If convicted, all 17 men face a minimum of ten years in prison.

"It really was a gang that first came to our attention at the City Grill Shooting, going way back to August of 2010," said US Attorney Bill Hochul. "It was members of the Schuele Boys who could very well have been the intended targets of Mr. (Riccardo) McCray who is now convicted of that atrocious act."

Hochul says that members of the gang were heavily involved in the trafficking of narcotics. "It's not just the drug dealing that's a threat to the community, but the violence that goes with it."

The gang was active in the area east of ECMC, between Delevan and Genesee Streets about a block away from Grider Street.

FBI Special Agent in Charge Brian Boetig says today's raid has made the city of Buffalo a much safer place.

"Today's arrests are the culmination of about a year's worth of work and represent a great success that's going to bring crime in that area of Buffalo down significantly."

The 17 men listed in the complaint are:
• Aaron Glenn, 41, North Tonawanda
• Antwan Garner, 29, Buffalo
• Demario Robbins, 23, Buffalo
• Michael Robertson, 24, Buffalo
• Jerome Grant, 33, Buffalo
• Fred Johnson, 21, Buffalo
• James Hicks, 44, Buffalo
• Xavier Hill, 42, Buffalo
• Demetrius Holmes, 23, Buffalo
• Damario James, 32, Buffalo
• Ikeem Lyons, 21, Buffalo
• Benjamin Peoples, 25, Buffalo
• Spencer Rogers, 50, Buffalo
• Antwon Steward, 31, Buffalo
• Shawntorrian Travis, 34, Buffalo
• Andre Wise, 36, Buffalo
