New Court Date for Jeweler Accused of Selling Counterfeit Jewelry

(WBEN) -- Sentencing is delayed for the Amherst jeweler accused of selling fake jewelry.

Paul Blarr's case was adjourned to Oct. 6. The 47-year-old admitted to selling counterfeit jewelry, including fake diamonds, over the last 16 years.

He was originally set to be sentenced Friday. He pleaded guilty in May to a single count of scheming to defraud his victims and 10 counts of third-degree grand larceny.

Prosecutors say they need time to explore items on consignment and taken to the shop for repair. They say he has promised to pay back restitution.

Authorities say 89 people lost a combined $630,000.

Blarr faces a maximum 50-year sentence.
