Kelly To Serve As Team Captain At Hall Of Fame Game
Canton, OH (WBEN) It’s hard to believe but the Buffalo Bills will open up their preseason schedule next Sunday night when they face the New York Giants in the annual Hall of Fame Game in Canton. Hall of Fame V.P., Joe Horrigan, expects a heavy contingent of Bills fans to descend upon Canton as former Buffalo great, Andre Reed will be part of the 2014 Class of Inductees, “This one is kind of special as Andre waited a little longer than some of the other guys.”
Induction ceremonies are set for Saturday and the game is Sunday with a special treat for the Buffalo faithful as Bills’ Hall of Fame QB, Jim Kelly is expected to be right there on the sidelines, “Obviously we have all of the Bills Hall of Famers coming back including Jim Kelly, which is great news that he’s able to make the trip. He’s actually going to be an honorary captain along with Harry Carson from the Giants.” Kelly has been battling cancer since being diagnosed with the disease back in June of 2013.
“I have always said that God willing, I will be back in Canton every summer,” Kelly noted in a statement last week. “This year especially, I am so thankful that I can be on hand to share in a great weekend that shines the spotlight on the Buffalo Bills. There isn’t a person more deserving of joining the Hall of Fame than my teammate and friend Andre Reed.
“It is also a great honor for me to represent the Bills organization at the coin toss to kick off the season,” the Bills’ legendary quarterback continued. “The entire experience will bring back many great memories from 2002 when so many of the Bills family – fans, players, and staff – joined me in Canton for one of the most memorable times of my life
Reed will join teammates Kelly, Bruce Smith, Thurman Thomas and James Lofton, and former coach Marv Levy in the Hall.
