Cats And Dogs: Who's More Popular in NYS?

Are there more cats or dogs in the Empire State? The answer is: Hello Kitty.

Cats outnumbers dogs in New York State households by a ratio of 1.4 to one. That amounts to seven cats for every five dogs.

    Market research firm Euromonitor found that people who live in colder states favored cats. By their count, New York is the ninth most cat friendly state in the union, with Massachusetts topping the list.

    Folks in the South and Southwest preferred dogs. Arkansas is a dog's best friend -- all of the top 10 dog states sit below the Mason-Dixon line.
