Clarence, NY (WBEN) Erie County Sheriff's Deputies say the've nabbed a former employee of a Clarence drive-in restaurant, charging him with stealing $3,000 in cash earlier this month.
Deputies say they were called July 8th to an overnight burglary at Pautler's Drive-In in Clarence. When Detectives arrived they observed the glass of the rear security door was smashed and the door to the office was forced open. They say the suspect stole $3,000 in cash from a safe located in the office.
Detectives were able to utilize the restaurant’s surveillance cameras to show the owner and two employees pictures of the suspect. All three independently identified the person as Bryan Chaput, 32, of Amherst.
On July 29, the Amherst Police Department notified Detectives that the agency arrested Chaput on unrelated charges. Detective took custody of Chaput and arrested him on felony burglary, grand larceny and criminal mischief charges.
Detectives transported Bryan Chaput to the Erie County Holding Center where he was being held pending his arraignment in Clarence Town Court.
