T-Storms Bring Flooding Concerns Near Lake Ontario
Lockport, NY (WBEN) Thunderstorms dumped heavy rain in a quick amount of time, leading to flood advisories and warnings.
The National Weather Service has issued a FLASH FLOOD WARNING for southern Niagara County until 6:45pm.
Hail was reported in Lockport, Niagara, and Cambria.
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR CONTINUED TO
SHOW A NEARLY STATIONARY LINE OF HEAVY SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS
OVER THE WARNED AREA. THE INDIVIDUAL THUNDERSTORM CELLS ARE MOVING
EAST AT ABOUT 15 MPH...BUT THEY ARE TRAINING OVER AREAS WHERE OVER
AN INCH OF RAIN HAS ALREADY FALLEN. SOME SITES ACROSS NIAGARA
COUNTY...SUCH AS THE AREA BETWEEN SANBORN AND NORTH TONAWANDA...
MAY RECEIVE MORE THAN 4 INCHES OF RAIN.
THE THUNDERSTORMS WILL WEAKEN BETWEEN 2 AND 3 PM...BUT ELEVATED
WATER LEVELS ON SOME STREETS AND IN AREA TRIBUTARIES WILL PERSIST
FOR A FEW HOURS LONGER.
