Fire Chief John Lapham
In a couple of cases, it appears fires that spread to houses actually broke out in parked vehicles
"Most of the damages were heat damages done to bu9ildings adjacent to the vehciles," Lapham says.
Off duty crews from North Tonawanda were joined by volunteers from Adams, Shawnee, Frontier and St. Johnsburg volunteer departments, Lapham says.
There were no reported injuries.
The run on fires comes after an arson spree hit the city earlier this year in a different neighborhood.
Michelle Johnston, 41, was accused of setting nine arsons near her Fifth Avenue home, and was re-arrested after police accused her of setting two more fires as soon as she got out of jail on the earlier charges.
