Warsaw Deputy Clerk Accused of Stealing Thousands from DMV
Warsaw, NY (WBEN) A Warsaw woman is accused of stealing $80,000 from the Warsaw County DMV over the past year.
Wyoming County Sheriff's Deputies arrested 59 year old Roxanne Ingles following an investigation. Deputies say the Wyoming County Clerk’s Office contacted Wyoming County Sheriff Gregory Rudolph after finding a
discrepancy in the Wyoming County Clerk’s Motor Vehicle Account. Personnel from the Clerk’s Office, Sheriff’s Investigators, and Investigators from the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles are working conjunction with the Wyoming County District Attorney’s Office. Ingles resigned Tuesday as the investigation continued. A search warrant was executed at Ingles' home Thursday.
“The case is ongoing and further charges are possible pending the outcome of further investigation and a comprehensive audit,” said Gregory Rudolph, Wyoming County Sheriff.
“These types of cases are becoming all too frequent whether it is a public office or a private company. Businesses and state and local auditors need to be doing a better job of overseeing the flow of these large sums of money. Checks and balances should be in place at every level. This should have never been allowed to
happen at this scale.” Donald O’Geen, Wyoming County District Attorney
