LP Ciminelli has announced plans to remake the former Central Park Plaza on the city's east side into apartments and townhouses.
The $70 million project will create 600 rental units near Fillmore and Leroy Avenues, not far from the burgeoning Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, by the end of 2016
Erie Community College has announced the launch of a new advanced bio-manufacturing program this fall at the North Campus, beginning later this year.
"The new program has two tracks (in Pharmaceutical/Medical Device and Food Processing) and was recently approved by the New York State Education Department and SUNY. Curriculum was carefully developed through a combined effort between academic faculty and local professionals—from industry leaders like Fresenius-Kabi, Perry's Ice Cream and Life Technologies—and will offer skills through its two tracks necessary for gainful employment., " the College said in a prepared statement, adding that they will "equip students with the skills necessary for stable careers in growing local industries like food processing, medical device and pharmaceuticals."

Cornell University says that Upstate Milk Cooperative is the best milk processor in New York State.
Their annual study takes samples when the milk is first recieived-- and then too weeks later near the end of the shelf life-- and rates it on flavor,odor and bacteria levels.
New York State will hold a $40 million competition designed to spur research and development of independent power grids that would allow local communities to keep the lights on during power failures.
The prize would award funding to companies or utilities that suggest the best ways to create so-called "microgrids." Microgrids are small power systems that are able to function independently when storms or other emergencies knock out electricity . The competition is being launched this fall.
