Buffalo (WBEN) -- Attorney Alice Kryzan has declared victory in her race to represent Democrats on the ballot in November, and replace longtime Republican Tom Reynolds.
Kryzan has apparently defeated Jon Powers and Jack Davis in the primary, and will face Republican candidate Chris Lee in the general election.
"This is Chris Lee's worse nightmare. I think he'd rather face up against one of the two beaten up candidates," says Prof. Hardwick, WBEN's Political Analyst, hosting our live election night coverage Tuesday with WBEN's Barbara Burns.
The 26th District stretches across 7 counties, with the bulk of the available voters in Erie, Monroe, and Niagara Counties
With over 90 percent of the Erie vote in, Alice Kryzan had a substantial lead over Jon Powers and Jack Davis. Erie County represents about half of the available votes in the district.
With over 80 percent of the Niagara County vote in Kryzan also leads there, with roughly 40 percent of the vote to Power's 32 and Davis 27 percent.
Kryzan has won Monroe County with 39 percent of the vote. Powers had 32 percent, and roughly 20 percent for Jack Davis.
Kryzan trails Powers and Davis in Livingston County, the district also includes some- but far fewer- voters in Orleans and Wyoming Counties.
"I am honored that the Democrats of this district have chosen me to represent them in the upcoming general election," Kryzan said in a prepared statement. " Today you sent a clear message : You want an independent voice in Washington."
