A record snowfall of 11.3 inches for December 20 was set overnight, beating the 4 inches mark from 1914. So far, the entire snowfall for this storm event, as of 4 am Monday is 12.8 inches
An intense band of lake effect snow across southern Erie and Wyoming counties will push further south into the western southern tier and transition into multiple bands of intense lake effect snow as winds start to taper down.
By far, the biggest impact from this system will continue to be strong winds that have developed on the back side of a departing low . Any snow that has already fallen or does fall today will be blown around with significant drifting. Driving will be treacherous in some spots.
