A State Police helicopter and a crew from the National Weather Service are expected to be aloft over Corfu and Darien after a confirmed F1 tornado touched down there Saturday.
Shortly after 5 pm Saturday a severe thunderstorm with some tornado-like roation observed on Doppler radar was reported near Albion, headed northeast.
A storm that the National Weather Service says produced funnel clouds was located about 2 miles south of Elba, between there and Batavia .
An F1 class tornado is relatively minor as tornadoes go, with winds of 73 to 112 MPH.
If a tornado is spotted, act quickly and move to a place of safety in a sturdy structure such as a basement or small interior room.
Severe thunderstorms dominated much of WNY Saturday evening, with winds over 60 mph and nickle sized hail.
