Posluszny and Whitner on the practice field

Orchard Park, NY (WGR 550)  -- Paul Posluszny was doing individual drills with the first team today as the Bills begin preparations for the Jets. He did have a large wrap on his arm. Nic Harris was back practicing with the linebackers after Buffalo signed DB Todd Johnson. Another reason is Donte Whitner was also doing individual drills with the first team. His hand was also heavily wrapped. Both Posluszny and Whitner were limited in practice. Josh Reed was also limited.

Whitner said, "It went pretty well, I did some things, I'm just preparing like I'm playing in the game. I'm very hopeful. I wish I could've played last week, I'm a little hard headed sometimes you gotta sit me down or calm me down a little bit. It's a thumb and I don't really need it the rest of my life so just tape it up lets go."

Not practicing today were Bryan Scott and Jonathan Scott. Jamon Meredith lined up at starting RT, but Dick Jauron would not say if Meredith is the new starter. Terrence McGee didn't practice as he nurses a knee injury.

As the Bills move forward, we all know about the penalties last week against Cleveland. Nine false starts. Whitner said, "That comes from focus. We needs guys to focus on their own job, not worry about what anybody else is dong, don't worry about what the opposition is doing, worry about what your job is. I know we had 13 false starts and that's not saying that any of those guys are bad players, but just know what the snap count is, know what's going on, that's all we have to do is know your job, get your job done individually and that leads to team success so if they weren't focused before, they need to be now because we need to win."

As far as that rumor kicked around on ESPN about trading Terrell Owens. Dick Jauron said it has not been discussed by the team. Owens said, "I don't worry about it at all. Whether it happens or not I don't know, I'm committed right here until it does happen. I'm not saying that it will so other than that, I'm committed."

Owens thought this team could win when he signed here. As for the Bills poor start and was it unexpected he said, "Well of course, we're 1-4. It doesn't take a Rocket Scientist to say that's not what I expected. We're going with the cards that have been dealt us. As far as the situation we're in right now, our record could be different except for a few plays here and there so right now we can't really worry about that, just move forward and look forward to the Jets this weekend." Owens added, "We know why we're 1-4 and the thing is not to worry about one individual. There's not anybody on any team that can shut me down. I think if you look at the film, I'm always facing double coverage. They may try some spy, safety over the top, you might see some linebackers buzzing underneath so I know why I'm not getting a lot of touches, it's not just one individual shutting me down."
