Buffalo, NY (WBEN Newsroom)  -- First Niagara Financial Group has committed over $2 million to the area surrounding its downtown Buffalo headquarters in the Larkin at Exchange Building. The project includes $1.5 million toward streetscape improvements for a section of Seneca Street from Fillmore to Larkin. First Niagara will also renovate a vacant building at 740 Seneca and establish a community improvement fund.
 
The $15 million Research and Information Commons at Daemen College has earned gold certification. Business First reports that’s through the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program.
 
Buffalo-based Troy & Banks Incorporated has been selected by the Metropolitan Opera to audit its utility and phone bills.
