Buffalo, NY (WBEN Newsroom) -- Early June of next year is the target date to begin construction on the $300 million Canal Side project. Business First notes the project’s general plan was approved by the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation. Tomorrow, the Empire State Development Corporation is expected to do likewise.
The New York Power Authority announced continued low-cost power contracts with the NFTA for its Metro Rail system and the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station. Those contracts extend through the year 2014.
Buffalo home sales for November went up 16% compared to a year ago. The Buffalo Niagara Association of Realtors adds that median prices rose 7% for the period.
MarketWatch has released its latest “Best Cities for Business” ranking. Buffalo placed 63rd out of 101 U.S. metro areas. Among the criteria: the number of companies per capita in a city, employment, growth and GDP.
