The Census Bureau's latest numbers for population place the city of Buffalo in 76th place in the country.  The 2014 population estimate is 258,703 residents - down from 259,560 in 2013.

The U.S. Postal Service has released information on the number of dog attacks on mail carriers in 2014.  Buffalo mail carriers were attacked 14 times last year, ranking 26th on a national list.  There were 6 attacks in Niagara Falls and 3 in North Tonawanda.  All were among 79 total attacks by dogs on letter carriers in Western New York.  Nationwide, 5,767 postal employees

The Buffalo Planning Board has unanimously approved a project to renovate the former AM&A's store downtown.  The privately-funded project is estimated to cost
$70 million.  Upon completion, the site will have an upscale independently-branded 300-room hotel, six apartments and a pair of restaurants, some medical office space, a spa and salon.

Praxair has completed the purchase of a 10-acre site in the Lockport Industrial Park.  The Niagara Gazette reports the purchase price was $200,000 for the site across from Yahoo's data center.  The sale was originally authorized in October 2014, although the name of the buyer was not disclosed due to ongoing negotiations.
