Greatbatch Inc. will acquire Lake Region Medical for approximately $1.73 billion in cash and stock.  Greatbatch reportedly pay $478 million in cash as part of that deal.  Once the transaction has closed, the combined company will employ over 9,000 individuals globally with revenues of approximately $1.5 billion.

Synacor Inc. has acquired Dallas-based Zimbra for a reported price of $24.5 million.  The deal is expected to close within 45 days.  Synacor is paying for it in part with $17.3 million

The ECIDA board has approved a series of tax breaks for Sodexo and its landlord, Uniland Development Co.  According to Business First, this will lead to Sodexo's construction of a regional service center in Cheektowaga.  The

The FAA has approved a plan for a helipad atop the new John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital of Buffalo.  Business First reports the only hurdle left is approval from the Buffalo Common Council.  It's anticipated that 300 patients will arrive annually by air at the hospital.  The $272 million facility is set to open in 2017.
